Entrevista a Dana Parish

Hoy os traigo la entrevista que recientemente tuve el placer de hacerle a Dana Parish, una de las autoras de dos temas del más reciente disco en inglés de Celine Dion: Thankful y Always Be Your Girl. (English version available below)

Hola Dana. Antes de nada, ¡gracias por darme la oportunidad de entrevistarte!
Hola Carlos, gracias por tu interés en mis canciones para Celine ¡Aprecio mucho tu generoso apoyo, así como el de los fans de Celine del resto del mundo!
1. ¿Cómo fue trabajar con Celine?
Desgraciadamente, no tuve la oportunidad de estar con ella en el estudio; Celine grabó nuestras canciones en Las Vegas con los productores (Babyface y Walter Afanasieff para Always Be Your Girl y Eman para Thankful), y yo vivo en Nueva York.
2. La canción Thankful lleva el álbum de Celine a otro nivel con ese increíble coro gospel ¿Cómo surgió la idea de añadir semejante coro?
Justo antes de hacer la mezcla definitiva, Celine tuvo la idea de añadir el coro gospel y Sony lo hizo posible muy rápidamente, ¡me impresionó! El coro grabó las voces en los legendarios Estudios Capitol en Los Angeles.
Andrew (mi marido y co-escritor) y yo nos sentimos realmente fascinados cuando escuchamos el resultado. Llevó a la canción a otro nivel.
3. Thankful se ha convertido en una canción favorita entre los fans de Celine y nos gustaría saber si ella expresó su deseo de cantar esta canción en directo sobre un escenario en algún momento.
Gracias. Sí, ella misma me dijo que planea añadir nuestras canciones a su espectáculo.
4. Sabemos que Always Be Your Girl fue la primera canción original que Celine grabó para su nuevo álbum, ¿pero cuándo la grabó?
¡Hace ya dos años!
5. ¿Qué hay de Thankful? ¿Podrías decirnos cuándo Celine dio vida a este mágico tema en el estudio de grabación?
Esta canción la grabó más tarde, pero ya sabíamos que la grabaría como un año antes de hacerlo. Estamos encantados con lo que ha hecho con nuestras canciones, la sensibilidad y el arte que les ha aportado, y también encantados de haber recibido tantas cartas de sus fans sobre las canciones.
6. ¿Se grabaron en vídeo las sesiones de grabación de estas dos canciones?
Creo que no.
7. Ya para acabar, ¿hay algo que te gustaría contarnos sobre tu último álbum 'Uncrushed'?
Gracias por preguntar. Puedo decirte que mi álbum 'Uncrushed' es muy próximo a mi corazón; es una expresión honesta y auténtica de quien yo soy y esas canciones han nacido del mismo espacio personal en el que me encontraba cuando escribí para Celine.
Para mí, es vital decir la verdad y ser lo más auténtica posible para contactar con el público y expresar cosas que espero les harán sentirse comprendidos e identificados. Esa es, para mí, la meta de mi trabajo, y es un honor compartir mi música con todos vosotros.

Hi Carlos, thank you for your interest in my songs for Celine. I truly appreciate all of your generous support and that of Celine's fans from all over the world!
1. What was it like to work with Celine Dion in the studio? I was not in the studio with her as she cut our songs in Las Vegas with producers (Babyface and Walter Afanasieff forABYG and Eman for Thankful) and I live in NYC.
2. The song Thankful takes Celine's album to a whole new dimension with that amazing gospel choir. How did the idea of adding such a choir come about? Right before the mix, Celine had the idea to add the gospel choir and Sony made it happen very quickly. I was impressed! The choir was recorded at legendary Capitol Studios in LA. Andrew (my husband and cowriter) and I were thrilled when we heard it. Took the song to a whole new level.
3. Thankful has become a favorite for Celine's fans and we'd like to know if she expressed her desire to sing this song live on stage at some point.
Thank you. Yes, she did tell me she plans to put our songs in the show.
4. We know that Always Be Your Girl was the first original song that Celine recorded for her new album, but when did she record it?
Two whole years ago!
5. What about Thankful? Could you tell us when did Celine bring this magical track to life in the recording studio?
She recorded this later in the process but we knew she'd be recording it for over a year before it happened. We love what she did with oursongs, the sensitivity and artistry that she brought, and are thrilled to have received so many nice letters from her fans about them.
6. Were the recording sessions for these two songs filmed?
I don't think so.
7. And finally, is there anything you'd like to tell us about your latest album 'Uncrushed'?
Thank you for asking. I can tell you that myalbum "Uncrushed" is very close to my heart; it's an honest and authentic expression of who I am and those songs were borne from the same personal space I was in when writing for Celine.
It's vital to me to tell the truth and be real as possible in order to connect with listeners and express things that I hope will resonate with them and make them feel understood. To me, this is the purpose for doing what I do, and it's an honor to share my music with you.
